Open enrollment is now open for the Healthcare Marketplace, part of the Affordable Care Act. Information about enrolling and shopping for plans is available at www.HealthCare.gov or by speaking to a representative at the toll free Marketplace Call Center at 1-800-318-2596, available 24 hours a day. Spanish speakers can visit www.CuidadoDeSalue.gov and will be able to speak to a representative in English or Spanish on the toll-free help line.
All Virginia Beach Public Library locations offer computers with internet access. Library employees will be available to assist you in getting started on HealthCare.gov, but are unable to give medical or insurance advice. 24 hour live chat assistance is available on HealthCare.gov for those who need assistance choosing a plan.
Health Insurance Marketplace Education and Enrollment Seminars
The City of Virginia Beach will conduct seminars in October and November to educate citizens about the Affordable Care Act’s Health Insurance Marketplace, and to assist them with enrollment. The seminars are free and open to the public. They are a collaborative effort between the Departments of Public Health, Human Services and Libraries.
Following is information about the seminars. Citizens may come at any time during these three-hour sessions to apply and enroll in the Marketplace. Educational briefs will be conducted every hour, on the hour for those needing more information. A certified application counselor will be on hand at every seminar.
