Summer storytime classes begin the week of June 17, 2013. The six-week series provide age-specific programs for children 6 months to 5 years old. Enrollment begins June 3. Just call or stop by your area library to secure a spot for your child.
Storytime classes are a fun and engaging way for children to build
early literacy and social skills, gain confidence, experience a growing sense of independence as well as develop a love of reading and books.
The classes are age-specific, based on Every Child Ready to Read
principles and designed to build the early literacy skills children must have in place in order to be able to learn to read. We accomplish this through rhymes, reading, fingerplays, age appropriate activities and our most important element - parent participation and education.
Our classes include:
Baby Rhyme Time (Ages 6 - 12 months with caregiver)
Bond with your infant in a face-to-face rhyme time. Build brains and early language skills through rhymes, repetition, music and baby sign. Children are introduced to quality board books and one-on-one book sharing. Call your library for enrollment information.
Onesies Rhyme Time (Ages 12 – 24 months with caregiver)
Onesies Rhyme Time builds early language and reading skills as children move from crawling to walking. Includes rhymes, books, baby sign and hands-on activities to build pre-reading and motor skills. Call your library for enrollment information.
Just 2s (Age 2 with caregiver)
Enjoy stories, rhymes, songs, concepts (i.e. colors, shapes, letters, etc.) and build early literacy skills with your curious toddler, as he develops independence and social skills. Call your library for enrollment information.
3s Please (Age 3 with caregiver)
With increased focus on more complex books, we emphasize alphabet and letter recognition, shapes, hands-on activities as well as independence and confidence building. Call your library for enrollment information.
Combined Preschool (Ages 3-5 with caregiver)
