The Virginia Beach Public Library provides computers in all buildings for public use. A valid library card, in the customer's possession and in the customer's name, is required to use a library computer. Effective September 1, 2012, customers owning $10 or more in fines will be blocked from using the computers. Wireless access is available to all customers.
Time on public computers is monitored by software using the customer's library card number and is limited to 2 hours per day. Printing is available from all library computers at a cost of $.20 per page. Color printing is available at all libraries at a cost of $.50 per page. Customers may save their work to a USB drive.
Library computers are not to be used for any unlawful purposes including, but not limited to: fraud, gambling or child pornography. Tampering with or altering the Library's software or hardware is not permitted. The Library does not permit the downloading of any executable files.
The Internet Use Policy, which incorporates the Wireless Internet Policy, governs acceptable use of the Library's Internet access. Use of the Library's computers after the initial log-on constitutes agreement with these acceptable uses.
