Are you looking for a specific song or music from your favorite artist? Stop searching, we've got it. With a valid, full service Virginia Beach Public Library card, you can download up to three songs each week from the
Library's Freegal site. It's free!
Searching is easy! You can use the search box to type in an artist's name or a song title. The smart search will suggest matches as you go. When you're finished typing, select the go button. If you are searching for a band or group whose name begins with "the", you will find them alphabetized under the letter "T". Also, some artists are listed by their first names not the last name. You can also find music by browsing music genres.
Try it before you download.Regardless of your search, the results will appear in an organized list. You can preview or listen to any song in the list before you download it. To preview a song, select the play button to the left of the download now link. The button is a small blue triangle inside a circle. Once you select the download now button, it counts as one of your weekly downloads. It's important to preview songs first so you get the songs you really want. If the preview button does not work, verify that your computer has Flash Player version 10 or higher.
Download a song. When you're ready to download a song, select the download now link. Your computer will ask you what you want to do with the file. Select Save and then designate a location on your computer for the song to be saved. If you select Open instead of Save, the file may not be saved to a convenient location on your computer. You may want to save the file to the desktop first then move it to your music folder. If you select the cancel button during the download process, it still counts against your weekly downloads.
Trouble?If you have a problem with a download, don't worry. You can download a previously downloaded song two additional times without using up one of your weekly downloads. All you need to do is select Recent Downloads which is located at the top of the Freegal homepage. If you exceed your download attempts for any song, you will receive a message that says "Limit Exceeded". The song will be removed from your Recent Downloads.
