It's a busy time at Virginia Beach Public Library...
Our Summer Reading Challenge is underway, helping keep young minds engaged during summer break, thanks to more than $30,000 in funding from the Friends of the Virginia Beach Public Library. Our innovative outreach to local Title 1 elementary schools just won an award at the Virginia Public Library Directors Association meeting. The program helped 77% of participating children retain or improve reading skills during summer break, and is being expanded this year.
VBPL’s newest library, a joint academic/public library built in partnership with Tidewater Community College, is about to reach its one year milestone. We’ve just implemented automated materials handling in most of our library locations and are continuously adapting and implementing new technologies to ensure our collection and services are current and relevant. And we’re also in the early stages of working on a new strategic plan.
These are just a few of the exciting projects on the horizon at Virginia Beach Public Library. Sound like an organization you'd like to help lead? View the brochure
