The Virginia Beach Department of Human Services (VBDHS) utilizes hundreds of volunteers who give generously of their time and expertise to help us meet the needs of mentally disabled, chemically addicted, and socio-economically disadvantaged consumers in our community. The divisions of Social Services, Mental Health/Substance Abuse, and Developmental Services have many opportunities available for individuals who are interested in volunteering in such activities as:
- Working with developmentally delayed children
- Providing recreational activities with teens
- Transporting consumers to activities
- Providing office support
- Serving on Board sponsored committees
- Helping with public relations including quarterly newsletter
- Working with elderly citizens
