Battalion Chief / Fire Marshal Terrence Tassone
Chief Tassone joined the Virginia Beach Fire Department in December of 1985. He currently serves as the Fire Marshal. The primary duty of the Fire Marshal is to provide oversight for Fire inspectors, Fire Investigators, and Life safety educators as they strive to keep our community safe.
Chief Tassone holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from Saint Leo University and an Associate Degree in Fire Science from Tidewater Community College. He is a graduate of the Virginia Department of Fire Programs Fire Marshal Academy, Law Enforcement for Fire Marshals. He is currently a Certified Fire Investigator through the International Association of Arson Investigators. He has also completed the NFPA 1031, NFPA 1033, CORE and Advanced Code Official courses.
Terry is a member of the Tidewater Regional Arson Panel, Virginia International Association Bomb Technicians/Investigators and the International Code Council.
Captain Timothy Scott
Captain Timothy W. Scott has served the Virginia Beach Fire Department since 1989. Four of these years were on the Hazardous Materials Team. Captain Scott was promoted to his current rank in July of 2000. Currently he is working as a Deputy Fire Marshal in the Fire Marshal’s Office. He is responsible for the Environmental Crimes Task Force, the Hotel Motel Task Force, Establishment Review Task Force, Open Burning Permits, Hoarding issues, Repository Box Program, Life Safety Inspections, and the daily supervision of fire inspections and fire investigations. He also manages Inspectors assigned to Plans Review for new construction and oversees the Private Fire Hydrant program.
Captain Scott holds an Associate in Fire Science Degree from Tidewater Community College and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Fire Administration from Hampton University. He is also a graduate of the Virginia Fire Marshal Academy. His certifications include Fire Inspector, Fire Investigator and Law Enforcement for Fire Marshals.
Captain Victor Valdez
Captain Valdez has been with the Virginia Beach Fire Department since 2000 and has served at Co.'s 18, 2, and 9 as a firefighter. After serving at Co. 18, he was assigned to the Fire Prevention Bureau as an inspector. In 2011 he was promoted to Captain and since then has been stationed at Co.'s 18 and 11. Captain Valdez is responsible for supervising both inspectors and investigators within the Fire Prevention Bureau. Currently Captain Valdez is assigned the following duties: Special Events Task Force, Fireworks Program, FACT Program, Convention Center/Public Building Coordinator, and Holiday/Special Event Planning.
Captain Valdez is a Nationally Registered Paramedic and has carried this since 2005. He holds two degrees; an Associates in EMS Technology from TCC and a Bachelors in Fire Science from Columbia Southern University.
