
Chief Scott Kalis commands the volunteer rescue services for the Kempsville, Chesapeake Beach, Davis Corner areas of the City and the SWAT Team, MCI Team. Chief Kalis is as a National Registry Paramedic and earning numerous certificates including Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Cardiac Life Support and Basic Trauma Life Support.
Chief Wallace Ching commands the volunteer rescue services for Courthouse, Plaza, General Booth, EMS 7 program and Marine Rescue Team areas of the City, Chief Ching is a National Registry Paramedic; as well as earning numerous certificates including Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Cardiac Life Support and Basic Trauma Life Support.
Chief Kyle Padgett commands the volunteer rescue services for Sandbridge, Creeds and Blackwater areas of the City, Squad Truck Team and Liaison Chief with the Knotts Island. Chief Padgett is a National Registry Paramedic; as well as earning numerous certificates including Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Cardiac Life Support and Basic Trauma Life Support.
Chief Jay Leach commands the volunteer rescue services for the Oceanfront, Great Neck and Ocean Park areas of the City, Bike Team and the Search and Rescue Team. He is a Nationally Registered Paramedic and a veteran volunteer of the department since the early 1990’s. In addition, he is a former Captain of the Virginia Beach Volunteer Rescue Squad (VBVRS), VBVRS Fund Drive Director, and Rescue Squad Foundation Board Member. Mr. Leach holds a Master’s Degree in Education from Old Dominion University, a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Denison University, and teaches Economics and Political Science at Norfolk Academy. He also coaches NA’s nationally prominent boys’ and girls’ varsity swimming teams.
Chief John Fusco commands a group of shift medics that assists the volunteer rescue squads in performing Emergency Medical and Rescue Services. Chief Fusco coordinates the scheduling of all EMS units as well as being a National Registry Paramedic and earning numerous certificates including Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Cardiac Life Support and Basic Trauma Life Support
Chief Dennis Hodge commands a group of shift medics that assists the volunteer rescue squads in performing Emergency Medical and Rescue Services. Chief Hodge coordinates the training of all career EMS medics with the EMS Training Division as well as being a National Registry Paramedic and earning numerous certificates including Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Cardiac Life Support and Basic Trauma Life Support
