The Lifeguard Services Division provides superior open water lifeguard training. All Lifeguards must be certified with current CPR certification meeting the AHA standard of Healthcare Provider; current first aid certification meeting the ARC standard of Basic First Aid; and current USLA or ARC Lifeguard certification or equivalent. Must successful pass pre-employment endurance and USLA skills testing. Additional extensive training is provided on such subjects as information on the aquatic environment, a thorough explanation of the drowning process, how to perform a rescue in the open water environment, use of basic and advanced rescue equipment, medical care of injuries specific to the aquatic environment, search and rescue procedures.
The lifeguard provider should also acquire a copy of our training and reference text, Open Water Lifesaving - The United States Lifesaving Association Manual to be issued to students in a certified course
