Virginia Beach Department of Emergency Medical Services in conjunction with the Virginia Beach Police Department has formed a cooperative venture to create Virginia Beach's first Air Med Critical Care Air Ambulance Service.
This Critical Care Air Ambulance Service Program for Emergency Medical Services is under the command of
Division Chief and Chief Flight Medic Edward Brazle
and is under the supervision of
Deputy EMS Chief William S. Kiley
.
While on patrol this craft will offer enhanced capabilities to paramedics with the possibility of providing rapid transport of critically ill or injured, patients from the scene when time is critical to the patient's survival and air transportation is the best method in Virginia Beach. Any public safety provider with the City of Virginia Beach may call for this service
This joint venture creates the only municipally operated Emergency Pre-hospital Air Ambulance Service in the Commonwealth of Virginia staffed with career and volunteer medics. Allowing EMS to provide the highest level of pre-hospital emergency care for its citizens anyway.
