Payment of fines and costs:
General District Court criminal and traffic fines and costs are payable online at www.courts.state.va.us or in the Accounting Office. You may pay in person at the cashier's window, or you may mail your payment to:

Payment requirements:
To ensure your payment is processed effectively:
- Remit payment online at www. courts.state.va.us "Pay Traffic Tickets and other offenses", at the General District Court's Accounting Office, or mail your payment to the address noted above.
- Payment may be made by personal check or money order, and made payable to the Virginia Beach General District Court. Personal checks must have your correct name, address and phone number on the check. The bank's electronic accounting number must also be pre-printed at the bottom of the check.
- Payment by credit card: If you wish to pay by credit card, we accept Mastercard®, Visa®, Discover®, and American Express® only. Please call the Accounting Office at 385-8470 or go online via www.courts.state.va.us. Have the following information ready when you call:
- Extension of due date: If you would like an extension of the due date for payment of your fines and costs, you must appear in person at the Accounting Division to request and sign for an extension. There is an additional $10 fee for this extension.
- Past-due fines and costs: If you have not paid your fines and costs and it is more than 41 days past your court date or past the due date, you must contact the General District Court's collection agency: Old Dominion Recovery 2101 Parks Ave, Suite 606 Virginia Beach, Virginia 23451 (757) 417-3600
- You have not received a bill: If you failed to appear and it is more 41 days since your court date and you have not received a bill from us, please call the Accounting Office at (757) 385-8470. Please have your summons number available when you call.
- Prepayable offenses: The fines and fees for certain offenses may be paid in advance of your court date. The requirements for prepayment and a schedule of prepayable fines and costs is available on-line.
