The Convention & Visitors Bureau is comprised of 5 distinct operational units all working and committed to quality customer service, supporting and promoting the City's economic vitality and quality of life. Our professional staff specialize on unique areas of interest as they relate to the Convention and Tourism Industry. Working together we present and support the City of Virginia Beach as one of the best products in the industry. The primary mission of the Directors Office, which provides direction and support to the other units, is to facilitate the creation and enhancement of convention, tourism, special events programs, parking systems and resort related improvements in order to maximize net tax revenues.
The Tourism Marketing and Sales program is made up of members totally devoted to Tourism Marking and Sales for the City of Virginia Beach and exists to put the professional buyers (tour operators, motorcoach owners, AAA/CAA counselors, travel agents) of tourism related services in touch with all of the facilities and opportunities Virginia Beach has to offer their clients (the consumer). To provide prompt accurate and complete information on these facilities. This mission is accomplished through department representative's individual sales and marketing activities and regional and statewide co-op promotions both domestic and international. This program also forms strategic alliances with State and regional partners to maximize program effectiveness.
The Visitor Information Center provides information and assistance to visitors and potential visitors to the city of Virginia Beach in order to make their travel preparations, and stay in the city a positive experience and to support the overall consumer and trade marketing efforts.
Convention Sales and Marketing is working to promote and preserve the image of Virginia Beach as a superior quality, year-round resort destination and to support, maintain, and demonstrably expand the city's domestic and international travel and convention markets thereby creating revenue opportunities and generating increased visitor expenditures, tax revenues, and employment.
The mission of the Sports Marketing division is to promote the City of Virginia Beach as a year-round resort destination by bringing sports events and participants to the City during all seasons, thereby creating additional tax revenue. The Convention Marketing & Sales Program exists to put the buyers of convention services, e.g., professional, social, associations, corporations, and organizations in touch with sellers of convention services, e.g. hotels, restaurants, The Convention Center, and to provide quality services to the buyers, e.g., multi-hotel convention housing coordination. This mission is accomplished through sales and marketing activities in person, in town & out of town, on the telephone, direct mail and out-of-town trade shows and trade advertising.
The Convention Facilities Division (Virginia Beach Convention Center) manages a city owned convention center which contributes to the development and growth of a quality convention and visitor destination, serve, educate and entertain residents and visitors and generate revenues from operations.
