The GIS dataset is the central part of the Virginia Beach Geographic Information System. The City of Virginia Beach Center for GIS, in cooperation with other city stakeholders, has produced or assembled a collection of datasets to be used in geospatial analysis and map production. The Center for GIS produces and maintains the common GIS layers and datasets. Other city stakeholders produce and maintain GIS layers specific to their business or their area of expertise. The GIS dataset is used to support the city's business and provide services to the citizens of Virginia Beach. Some GIS datasets may be available to the general public for personal or commercial use.
