There’s something for dads of all ages and their kids — from Buffalo wings to motorcycles, live music and more June 14.
Spend the day with your dad enjoying a variety of activities at the Virginia Beach Farmer’s Market. The market is hosting a Father’s Day Celebration
June 14 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.
You can pair up to compete in a “Blazin Wings Challenge
” sponsored by Buffalo Wild Wings (BWW). Participants must eat 12 traditional wings doused in Blazin’ wing sauce — the hottest the restaurant offers. The wings must be eaten in six minutes or less without anything else to drink or eat. Whoever can finish the fastest wins. First and second place finishers will win BWW gift cards valid at all locations. Everyone who accepts the challenge must be 18 or older and will be required to sign waiver. Participation is free. Baby back ribs and smoked turkey legs from The Country Butcher and the Princess Anne County Grill will also be available for purchase.
Local artisans and guilds will be on hand offering demonstrations including glass blowing, wood turning and metal works. Kill Devil Skates artist Jesse McClenney will even demonstrate how to transform a log into a tiki totem.
If your dad enjoys gardening, he can chat with the Plant Doctor and take a tour of the Master Gardeners’ “Kitchen Garden.”
If plants aren’t his thing, he can check out the latest bike models courtesy of Southside Harley Davidson or get a free professional health consultation from Alive Chiropractic while listening to the sounds of summer by The Second Chance Band.
Music aficionados can even register to win concert tickets from Farm Bureau Live.
There are also fun activities for the kids. The Norfolk Tides Mascot, Riptide will be available for photos from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Afterward they can jump in the inflatables or ride a pony. Dads and kids can also play with radio controlled “toys” provided by Ed’s Hobbies.
