Bicycle / Wheeled Device

The City of Virginia Beach does not require the purchase of a bicycle / wheeled device license. The idea of registration is to make it easier for a bicycle to be identified and returned to its rightful owner if it is lost or stolen, or if it's involved in an accident.

For disabled individuals that do not use the traditional wheelchair of motorized scooter, a special decal can be purchased from the City Treasurer’s Office for the purpose of operating such device in the Resort Area. A physician’s letter or a City of Virginia Beach Medical Certification Form certifying that you are disabled is required along with the below registration information.

The fee for a bicycle/wheeled device and/or a disabled license is $1.00.

Licenses are valid through the life of the device with the same owner. To register a bicycle or other wheeled device the appropriate fee and the registration form must be submitted to the City Treasurer’s Office.
