The mission of the
Department of Public Works is to proactively enhance the health, safety and welfare of the citizens of the City of Virginia Beach by overseeing the design and construction of new City structures and transportation facililties to ensure maximum use and benefit; maintain a large portion of the City's infrastructure; provide for the collection, recycling and disposal of solid waste to ensure a healthy environment.
