The mission of the Department of Housing and Neighborhood Preservation is to preserve and enhance the quality and livability of the City's housing and neighborhoods, to maintain the value of the real estate tax base, and to promote the economic development of the City. The Department's responsibilities in fulfilling this mission include (a) leveraging Federal, State, and private resources, (b) developing partnerships with neighborhood, private, and trade organizations, (c) implementing proactive and preventive code enforcement activities, and (d) assisting and facilitating citizens to identify and take action to solve housing and neighborhood problems.
