City Manager Dave Hansen selected Brad Van Dommelen to lead the Virginia Beach
Convention and Visitors Bureau as its new director in April 2016.
Van Dommelen spent much of his career in Michigan. He has worked in the hospitality industry throughout his career and has considerable expertise in management, sales, research and analysis to drive growth and development in the convention and tourism industries. Brad earned a BS in Business Management from Davenport University.
The Virginia Beach Convention and Visitors Bureau operates the 525,000 sq. ft. Virginia Beach Convention Center as well as two year-round Visitor Information Centers. It also operates the kiosks in the resort area and a seasonal visitor center at First Landing State Park. It has 107 employees and a budget of $20,403,538 (operating and the Tourism Advertising Program (TAP) Fund).
