The Virginia Beach Convention and Visitors Bureau is proud to serve its citizens and guests by providing the highest quality marketing and promotional activities in order to attract overnight and day visitors and a variety of meetings and conventions to the City of Virginia Beach. Tourism is a major contributor to Virginia Beach's overall economic vitality, generating $73.2 million in direct city revenue in 2006 and creating 10,800 jobs.
The tourism industry in Virginia Beach is no longer just a summer event – it is a vital and thriving year-round business. With 38 miles of clean, wide beaches, peaceful State and City parks, well manicured and challenging golf courses, nightly family entertainment, seasonal festivals, and the first class Virginia Aquarium & Marine Science Center there is plenty to experience for both locals and tourists alike.
Adding to Virginia Beach’s appeal is the completion of the Virginia Beach Convention Center in January 2007, unveiling over 500,000 sq. ft of spectacular new meeting and convention space. This includes a 150,000 square-foot column-free exhibit hall, a 31,000 sq. ft. ballroom, 28,929 sq. ft. of meeting space and 2,230 free parking spaces. This new facility is bringing new convention business to the City, including national conventions like the American Bus Association Marketplace. The center has the capacity for even more positive growth, stimulating redevelopment in the resort area and new links to the Hilltop Shopping area and Town Center.
We welcome all citizens and guests to enjoy the many pleasures that define Virginia Beach as a favorite beach destination!
