FY 2015-16 Budget & Capital Improvement Program
July 1 is the start of the city's 2015-16 fiscal year. The City Council adopted a $1.8 billion operating budget for the coming year, plus funding for $313 million in new construction projects: wider roads, better schools and deeper drainage ditches. The budget includes money for 1,400 police officers and firefighters, 86 schools, 10 libraries, 7 recreation centers and many other things. Click on the "Highlights from the Virginia Beach City Budget 2015-16" below for a quick summary.
New to FY 2015-16, the city will be offering an open data platform enabling citizens to review, compare, download, visualize,
and analyze budget data. This tool makes it easier for citizens to
get what they need in a simple to use and understandable platform.
The site connects citizens directly to the current operating
and capital improvement program’s budgeted appropriations and revenues at the same level
city staff sees them, the account object level. Select the OpenVB graphic below to begin your search.
