The Virginia Dare Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) is one of 47 districts in Virginia. Districts are subdivisions of state government which coordinate local natural resource protection programs (section 10.1-50 of the code of VA, 1950, as amended). A board of Directors consists of four elected and two appointed members to govern the district.
