Bring your furry friend and check out the doggie-related businesses, the canine rescue organizations, and the inspiring canine demonstrations.
Activities taking place at the K-9 Karnival include:
- 2011 Hyperflite Skyhoundz Local Championships | 1-3 pm (Registration begins at 10 am)
Unleash the champion in your dog during this ever-entertaining contest with amazing displays of canine grace, athleticism and agility. This disc-catching event is open to all owners and dogs, regardless of breed, size or experience, as pound puppies can compete paw-to-paw with purebred canines. (In fact, a number of shelter adoptees have gone on to win it all. Who knows – you may have a future champion on your hands!) Register your dog to participate and receive a free competition disc to take home.
- Canine Rescue Organizations
Over 15 canine rescue organizations will have educational displays and canine activities. If you are interested, many will have dogs on site for adoption.
- Exhibits
There will be numerous exhibitors showcasing a wide range of pet-related products and services. Food will also be available for purchase.
- Canine Demonstrations
Virginia Beach Fire Department, Virginia Beach Police K-9 Unit and Greater Atlantic Rescue Dogs (GARD)
- New for 2011! Agility Course Competition | 11:30 am (Registration begins at 10 am)

- 20th Annual Dog-Gonest Dog Show | 10:30 am - 12 pm (Registration begins at 10 am)
It’s 15 seconds of fame for you and your favorite mutt! Contest categories include Best Tail Wagging, Best Barking, Owner/Dog Look-Alike, and “Stupid Pet Tricks.” Register at the show arena on the day of the event. Participation is free and prizes will be awarded!
- Rabies Shot Clinic | 10 am - 3 pm

You can also register your dog for year-round fun and exercise in the dog parks, located at Red Wing Park and Woodstock Park.
